Ship Recycling Convention
The Ship Recycling Convention sets worldwide standards for the environmentally sound recycling of ships
The Ship Recycling Convention will be applicable in the future for all new and existing ships from 500 GT and above. The Convention will contain rules and regulations for ship owners, ship yard, supplier and for recycling yards.
The main parts of this new Convention are the Inventory of Hazardous Materials and the Authorization of recycling Facilities.
As the Convention has been adopted in Mai 2009 no IMO Member State has ratified the Convention and therefore Ship Recycling Convention is not in force yet.
